This 4-day course will provide participants with the training and resources to assist you with providing a Restorative Nursing Program that includes proper assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating individualized Restorative Nursing Programs for positive resident care outcomes, maximizing reimbursement rate based on actual resident data and decrease the potential for regulatory deficiency as you keep your residents at their highest level of functioning! A comprehensive Restorative Manual  will be provided upon class completion.

Objectives:

  1. Attendees will be able to describe the concepts of a comprehensive restorative/ rehabilitation program
  2. Attendees will be able to recognize the need for an understanding of musculo-skeletal health of the long term care resident, including proper assessment of the disease process, in planning for a safe, appropriate, individualized, restorative plan for each resident
  3. Attendees will be able to summarize the regulatory requirements that mandate an appropriate restorative program is in place assuring individualized resident needs are planned for, implemented, and occurs on a systematic basis
  4. Attendees will be able to apply the components of the ADL program in practice within the long term setting
  5. Attendees will be able to describe components of the Communication Program.
  6. Attendees will be able to describe the components of a Contracture Prevention and Management Program
  7. Attendees will be able to Verbalized understanding of the Urinary Incontinence Regulatory Requirements
  8. Attendees will be able to describe the components of the Continence Program
  9. Attendees will be able to describe the components of a Dining (Eating and Swallowing) Program.
  10. Attendees will be able to describe the components of a Mobility Program.
  11. Attendees will be able to describe the components of Amputation/Prostheses Care
  12. Attendees will be able to give examples of restorative interventions that can be utilized effectively with cognitively impaired residents, residents with depression and residents with behavioral symptoms.
  13. Attendees will be able to define how to utilize adult learning principles for an effective training program for direct care
  14. Attendees will be able to summarize Restorative Program set-up, utilizing job descriptions, policies and procedures, tracking methods and program evaluation.
  15. Attendees will be able to demonstrate documentation to substantiate necessary care and implementation of individualized restorative interventions.
  16. Attendees will be able to identify the importance of accurate coding with the MDS process.
  17. Attendees will be able to analyze a case study of need for Restorative Care.
  18. Attendees will be able to verbalize the Responsibilities of a Restorative Nurse.
